Prince Harry is said to be really close with his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. While it is understandable why he and Meghan Markle didn’t attend Beatrice’s recent wedding due to the coronavirus emergency protocol, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly, also caused backlash at Eugenie’s nuptials in 2018.
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park on July 18. Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are, currently, living in Los Angeles, it was impossible for them to attend the special event.
That being said, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s absence in Princess Beatrice’s wedding day is something that they have no control over. However, Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claimed in the book “Royals At War” that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have caused a stir over a different York wedding.
The investigative journalists wrote that even though Meghan Markle’s pregnancy was officially announced in October 2018, the Duchess of Sussex told the Royal family the baby news at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, making Prince Harry “embarrassed.”
“Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child,” the authors claimed. The Duchess of Sussex's decision to announce it on Princess Eugenie's special day, allegedly, made Sarah Ferguson "furious."
Royal expert Phil Dampier, previously, said that the royal family always coordinates major announcements, so the members won’t “steal each other’s thunder.” With Meghan Markle, allegedly, announcing that she was expecting at Princess Eugenie's wedding, it was definitely not good timing at all.
Multiple reports claimed that Meghan Markle likes being the center of attention since her previous job was a Hollywood actress. Many believed that she got pregnant right away because it would give her even more exposure after the wedding.
On the online forum site Quora, a lot of royal fans shared their negative reactions about Meghan Markle getting pregnant so quickly. Some said that she should have waited at least a year after her wedding to Prince Harry to have a baby.
But, Meghan Markle did receive some support in the comments section. Some pointed out that there at least she got pregnant after the wedding and not before that. Others also noted that adding a baby to the mix is the next natural step of married couples.
