Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer working royals, but that does not mean that they will remain silent regarding subjects that they are passionate about. In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the young leaders of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to discuss certain issues, such as justice and equal rights.
Due to the coronavirus emergency protocol, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had to do the discussion through a video call. Even though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were covering serious topics, many could not help but notice how the former actress was taking most of the space.
It almost appeared like Meghan Markle pushed Prince Harry to the side so she could be in the middle of the screen during the video call. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams noted that the space-grabbing incident was clearly unintentional. However, he admitted that it was quite funny.
“In their video link to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, Meghan appears to progressively edge Harry to the side of the screen during the broadcast which is, obviously unintentionally, somewhat comic,” he said. (Check out the photo here).
Another thing that people noticed was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s background. Many pointed out that the wall behind them during the video call was unattractive. But Richard Fitzwilliams defended the couple, saying that the focus should be what they were talking about, and not their background.
Meanwhile, TalkRadio's host Dan Wootton wondered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “lecturing” the public about the Commonwealth when the Duke of Sussex benefitted from it growing up.
Editor of Spiked Online Brendan O'Neil called the show, where he and Dan Wootton agreed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were two very privileged individuals. They then said that the public has had enough of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, especially after they have decided to quit royal life and moved to the U.S. to make a fresh start.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced earlier this year that they would be stepping down from being senior royal to focus on their family and charities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, then, officially withdrew from their roles at the end of March.
The couple is, currently, living in Los Angeles with their son Archie after briefly staying in Canada. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to launch their new foundation Archewell later this year after being banned from using their Sussex Royal account.
