A new report claims that it might be difficult for fans to secure a unit of the iPhone 12 Pro in September. Over the past months, the industry anticipates that Apple would launch its next flagship series in the third or fourth quarter of this year. While it is possible that Apple may move the iPhone 12 series' debut to a later date, it is also possible that the higher tier iPhone 12 model might not be available at the anticipated launch window.

iPhone 12 Pro Display

The latest information about the iPhone 12 Pro comes from Display Analyst Ross Young. According to the analyst, both iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max might be delayed because of display constraint. Young claims that the production of the display of regular iPhone 12 models are on schedule.

However, the production of the panels of both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max is a month behind its target timeline. The analyst adds that the production of the displays of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 is due this July. But, the production of the 6.4-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max would not begin until August.

In other words, there is a high likelihood that Apple might release the iPhone 12 Pro models at a much later date than that of the regular iPhone 12 models. The analyst does not say the reason why the panel of the higher-tier iPhone 12 models would be delayed. It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, several rumors surfaced online claiming that Apple might copy the panel of iPhone 12 Pro models from the 2020 iPad Pro.

Other iPhone 12 Details

It also said that the Pro models of this year's flagship iPhone would feature a 120 Hz refresh rate ProMotion displays. Producing this kind of screen would most likely require a lot of time and manufacturing process. Young earlier cast doubt on these rumors about the high refresh rate of iPhone 12 models.

It is possible that Apple is equipping the iPhone 12 Pro models with a high display refresh rate to rival competitors like Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, OnePlus 8 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S20. Just like other companies with facilities and supply sources in China, Apple was also affected by the temporary shutdown of the region during the first quarter of this year.

The production delay of the iPhone 12 series is understandable, given the current global health crisis. It is worth mentioning that while this information about the release of the iPhone 12 Pro is interesting, it is not official. Take this information with a pinch of salt.
