According to several industry sources, the highly anticipated debut of the flagship iPhone 12 series of Apple could happen in October. Over the past months, rumors are claiming that the Cupertino company might not be able to launch the upcoming iPhone 12 line up in September because of supply issues. However, based on the latest set of leaks, it looks like Apple would not introduce the new flagship iPhone series in its usual launch month.

iPhone 12 Series' Delayed Debut

The latest information about the launch of Apple's iPhone 12 series comes from Front Page Tech's Jon Prosser. According to the industry insider and reliable Apple tipster, the much-awaited iPhone 12 series and several iPad models would debut in October 2020. Prosser tweeted, "iPhone 12, New iPads, October."

It seemingly suggests that Apple is preparing to launch the next-generation iPhone models and tablets a month later than its usual September launch window. The iPhone 12 series is anticipated to arrive this fall, with several rumors claiming that the company might introduce the 10.8-inch iPad Air and a refreshed iPad Mini models.

Other iPhone 12 Details

Prosser's claim seemingly aligns with the recent statement from Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala. During the company's third-quarter earnings report, the executive hinted that the upcoming 5G iPhone 12 models could be delayed. The company revealed that its fourth-quarter projections might be affected by the delay of the launch of a 'global 5G flagship phone.'

"We're seeing a partial impact from the delay of a flagship phone launch," the CFO noted. "And so what we've seen is a slight delay that pushes some of the units out from the September quarter to the December quarter for us," he added. Qualcomm is the company responsible for supplying the baseband chipsets of 5G iPhones.

This is a part of a modem licensing deal, as well as a settlement that concluded a global legal battler with Apple. The Qualcomm-powered handsets and devices would be Apple's first venture into the 5G market. Macrumors believe that it is still possible for Apple to launch the iPhone 12 series in September as it typically does.

The site claimed that Apple had done this in the past, where it launched the series that was uncoupled from an announcement. In 2018, the Cupertino tech giant introduced the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in September. The two higher-tier models launched in September while the iPhone XR came late in October.
