Kate Middleton reportedly feels devastated over the tell-all book Finding Freedom, charting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's step back from the royal family. Prince William and Harry are apparently still on speaking terms but their talks have been difficult, if not contrived.

Royal author Andrew Morton believes that the biography deeply affects Kate and she's reeling from the additional revelations in the book. Royal correspondent Phil Dampier also told Daily Mail that he received information Prince William and Harry are still taking to each other but it's been a "stilted" situation since excerpts of the book came out.

Finding Freedom claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex grew apart from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who didn't have good things to say about Meghan. The couples were allegedly barely speaking with each other during their last family reunion in March 2020.

The biography outlines Prince Harry and Meghan's difficult first three years as a royal couple. The book contains details that have come out in the tabloid press since 2018. However, royal courtiers fear that the book's release could spark new problems between the Sussex pair and the royal family.

Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote that Kate "did little" to fix the rift between Prince William and Harry. Morton said that the Duchess of Cambridge obviously remains loyal to her husband amid talks that he and Prince Harry were feuding over the latter's relationship with Meghan.

Dampier said that the book may further damage the relationship that Prince William and Harry have been trying to repair. Morton expressed sadness over the situation as the royals have "gone their separate ways."

More than 100 sources were interviewed for Finding Freedom but a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan said that the couple didn't sit down with Scobie and Durand. The spokesperson made it clear that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not involved with the book's release.

Dampier, however, said that Prince Harry and Meghan didn't issue a statement to say that the contents in the book are not true when they are often quick to file lawsuits against tabloid reports. The royal expert said that it's easy to assume the Sussexes agree with the book's narrative and the stories against Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The biography won't be in stores until Aug. 11 but it's been topping the bestseller list at Amazon since the pre-order a few months ago.
