The long wait is over. Miley Cyrus surprised fans when she announced that she will drop a new song next week.
Cyrus took to social media, on Thursday, to reveal that "she is coming" with the lead track of her upcoming album, She Is Miley Cyrus. Miley said the song is titled, "Midnight Sky," and it will be available starting on August 14. Cyrus has yet to announce the release date for her seventh studio album.
The "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker has yet to reveal what "Midnight Sky" is all about but based on the single artwork, it could be a banger. Cyrus looked fierce in the artwork while rocking her blonde mullet and red lipstick, and sporting a black tank top and bejeweled gloves.
Prior to her latest social media post, she, also, teased earlier this week the hashtags #SheIsComing and #ButForRealThisTime, referring to the delay of her album. Along with the post was a throwback video to her 2007 hit "Start All Over" from her TV series Hannah Montana.
On Wednesday, she, also, shared a photo of her and Dua Lipa along with producer Andrew Watt. Dua captioned the photo "bromance" while Miley teased her friend already heard either "Midnight Sky" or her upcoming album.
It's been almost three years since Miley Cyrus released a new album. Her last full album was Younger Now, which was released in September 2017. Though she had gifted her fans with several songs in the past year, Smilers have been waiting for a full album from the "Malibu" singer.
The upcoming release of "Midnight Sky" came a year after Miley dropped two promotional singles, "Mother's Daughter" and "Slide Away," from the same album. The songs were released on June 11 and August 16, 2019, respectively.
Cyrus teased, more than a year ago, that she will be releasing an album in 2019. But, the year had passed, no LP was dropped. Originally, the pop superstar planned to release three EPs before the full album, She Is Miley Cyrus. However, only one, "She Is Coming," made it out on May 31, 2019.
Understandably, Cyrus had a challenging 2019. Miley and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth broke up in August 2019. She had a short-lived romance with Kaitlynn Carter right after she and the Hunger Games actor split.
Then, she started dating her now-boyfriend Cody Simpson. Miley, also, had a vocal chord surgery in November 2019 for a previously diagnosed condition.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus' new song will drop on the same day as Katy Perry's upcoming album Smile. It will, also, coincide with K-pop group Super M's new track "100" from their upcoming first full-length album, Super One, that will drop on September 25.
