The Cupertino-based tech juggernaut Apple recently rolled out the latest Sleep Tracking feature in the iOS 14 and watchOS 7. The new feature is designed to assist users in tracking the amount of sleep they get every night. It is also developed to help improve the user's sleeping habits through a winding down process and bedtime reminders.

Sleep Schedule

It is now easy to set up sleep schedules in both the Apple Watch with watchOS 7 and in devices running on iOS 14. To set sleep schedules, go to the Health app on the iPhone or Apple Watch and set the amount of sleep you want to achieve each night. Do this, along with your wake up goals and standard sleep.

When making a sleep schedule, make sure to set the Sleep Goal first. Users can opt to use the same Sleep Schedule every day or select different schedules for various days. It is flexible, and users could easily set their sleep schedule on workdays and on weekends.

With the Sleep Schedule set, users could enable or disable the Wake Up Alarm. Aside from this, users could customize the sound and haptic feedback. If the user is using an Apple Watch for Sleep Tracking, the alarm will happen on the wearable instead of going off on the iPhone.

Sleep Mode

In addition to the Sleep Schedule, there is an optional feature called Sleep Mode. When this mode is activated, it changes the device's lock screen at the user's selected bedtime. It hides the notifications and turns the iPhone on Do Not Disturb mode. Additionally, this particular mode, could be turned on or off to align with the user's Sleep Schedule. It could also be toggled on or off in the Control Center.

Wind Down

Another optional feature in the latest Apple Sleep tracking functionality is the Wind Down. When this mode is activated, it enables Sleep Mode to start before bedtime to help minimize distractions and help the user relax. Similar to the Sleep Mode, Wind Down enables Do Not Disturb and can appear shortcuts to apps or features.

Sleep Tracking

This feature keeps a tab on the amount of sleep the user gets each night based on the set Sleep Schedule. For those who would like to view their sleep data, it can be accessed through the Apple Watch in the Health app on the iPhone. Apple Watch enables users to check the Sleep Schedule summaries and sends notifications about Wind Down and bedtime settings.
