Anthony McPartlin OBE and Declan Donnelly OBE, more popularly known as the duo Ant & Dec, had the rare experience of being invited at a royal sleepover by none other than Prince Charles. The popular British TV presenters, recently, shared what's it like to be house guests of the Prince of Wales.

Speaking with Glamour, Ant & Dec said that they were asked to stay over at Dumfries House in Scotland since they were doing a documentary about Prince Charles and his foundation, The Prince's Trust. The duo recalled that as soon as they arrived at the property, butlers immediately received them, took their luggage and led them to their rooms. They were so impressed by everything.

Ant & Dec thought that their rooms were far away from Prince Charles' wing but they were surprised to learn that they will be sleeping across the hall from the Prince of Wales. Dec joked that the set-up was good enough to be pitched as a sitcom and Ant said that it was "one of the most surreal moments" of his life.

The butler told them that Prince Charles was already in the property and likely in the garden. So, the two comedians spent some time relaxing in their rooms before dinner.

Ant found a fluffy robe at the back of his bathroom door to wear and made his way across the room to Dec. But as soon as he stepped out, Prince Charles was in the hallway, going to his room, and saw Ant with the robe.

The TV host said the royal greeted him and paused, and then told him that he was tending to his roses because it's "better to do these things oneself." Ant could only agree though he never grew roses ever and he was still wearing the fluffy robe. It was an awkward situation for both of them.

But, Dec said that Prince Charles is a "genuinely lovely man," who takes time writing them thank-you letters by hand. According to Prince William and Prince Harry, whom Ant & Dec interviewed for the documentary, Prince Charles often sits down in his office late in the evening to write people letters.

The TV duo shadowed Prince Charles for a full year for this documentary project. They've been with the Prince of Wales at royal event and Ant became his "official food taster."

Prince Charles even told Ant that he was going to have a big spoon necklace made for him because he always munched on something whenever they see each other. But, Ant said he still hasn't received the big spoon the Prince of Wales promised.

Ant & Dec first worked with Prince Charles for the documentary in 2015. The heir to the throne made them ambassadors for The Prince's Trust and their friendship and partnership continue even today.
