Redmond-based tech giant Microsoft recently confirmed that it would be attending this year's Tokyo Game Show. However, it also shared disappointing information, particularly for expectant Xbox Series X's fans. While the company would be at the TGS 2020, it confirmed that there would not be any new Xbox Series X news.

Microsoft announced its online participation in the Tokyo Game Show Online 2020 through an official blog post. On Xbox Wire, the tech giant confirmed that there would be a Japanese review of first and third-party titles at the upcoming event. And while expectant fans are looking forward to hearing the official release date or price of the Xbox Series X, the company confirmed that no such announcement would take place at the event.

The Tokyo Game Show Online 2020 will commence on September 24 and will run until September 28. Xbox said it would participate at the said event through a virtual showcase via livestream. It would start at 9 PM HST on September 24.

Microsoft believed that its presence at the Tokyo Game Show would celebrate vibrant players and visionary creators in the region. It promised that it would showcase the latest games and content from its Japanese partners and players. Furthermore, the company confirmed that it would also make announcements related to Xbox services.

It is unfortunate that nothing Xbox Series X-related would be announced during the event. Interestingly, a leak earlier this week may have revealed that Microsoft is preparing for a major announcement ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. The information came from Xbox insider Klobrielle.

While the tipster did not give a lot of details, he mentioned that there would be "relevant" Xbox news happening before the Japanese gaming event. Klobrielle further said that the news would be related to Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Microsoft previously confirmed that its next-generation gaming console would arrive sometime in November 2020.

It has also revealed many details about the gaming console. The same could not be said with the heavily-leaked Xbox Series S. The rumored "more affordable" console was not yet officially confirmed by Microsoft.

However, a lot of leaks and speculations point that it could be the company's ticket to challenge its rival's PS5 Digital Edition. Microsoft is still silent about the Xbox Series S. Aside from that, it has not yet revealed the price and specific release date of the Xbox Series X. With November fast approaching, it is just a matter of time that Microsoft would announce these details.
