Analyst predicts that the mid-sized iPhone 12 is set to become the bestselling model of the Apple iPhone 12 family.

The mid-sized iPhone 12 will enjoy more sales over the other models in the Apple iPhone 12 family. The prediction came ahead of the official launch of the new iPhone family in the company's "Hi, Speed" event on Tuesday, October 13.

The fearless forecast about the mid-sized iPhone 12 becoming a bestseller came from known TF International Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. TF International Securities is a financial services organization based in the Asia-Pacific region. Kuo collects information from contacts within the Asian supply chain of Apple, which he then reassembles as research notes for his clients.

Kuo then explained why he thinks the mid-sized iPhone 12 will become the bestseller among the lot. In a note to investors, he revealed that the mid-size model, referring to the 6.1-inch new iPhone 12, is expected to make up approximately 40% of shipments during its launch, making it the bestselling model among the four.

The shipment forecast of Kuo placed the other three models of the new iPhone 12 family, namely the iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max at enjoying a 20% purchase each of the entire shipments. This allocates the remaining 40% by default to the mid-size iPhone 12, which made Kuo predict the model becoming the bestseller among the lot.

The note, which AppleInsider reporters saw, states that while the smallest phone in the series, the compact 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, is the cheapest among the new iPhone 12 family, it will not enjoy high sales mainly because its size will not be that appealing to consumers. At present, rumors indicate that the iPhone 12 mini will have a price tag of around $699, while the regular iPhone 12's price will start at $799. There were earlier reports that the price of each model is a bit cheaper at $649 and $749, respectively. Yet, even with a $100 difference, Kuo said that the regular and mid-sized iPhone 12 is set to become the bestseller.

Kuo also believed that the 5G connectivity feature is not that important to consumers, rather, the price will be their main consideration. He also doubts reports that predict iPhone 12 sales to reach around 80 million. He believed that the actual sales will vary a lot from the predicted figure and besides, Kuo thinks that the 80 million figure may relate to component orders, which does not actually correlate to iPhone sales. As regards his prediction, however, of the mid-sized iPhone 12 becoming a bestseller, Kuo stands by the results of his research, though he did not mention as to how many iPhone 12s that translates to.

A few hours from now, everyone will see whether or not Kuo's predictions on the mid-sized iPhone 12 becoming the bestseller among the four models will come to pass. The analyst also reminded everyone that this year's new iPhone 12 release and sales may be severely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. As such, the health crisis may play a role in whether or not the mid-sized iPhone 12 will become the bestseller.
