Mobile Carriers in Taiwan say that sales of the new iPhone 12 will match or even exceed that of the iPhone 6 during its release.

Taiwanese carriers predict that iPhone 12 sales will be strong and may match or surpass that of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The fearless prediction was revealed by the Economic Daily News, which quoted the predictions of some of Taiwan's mobile carriers. According to the publication, to cope with the strong demand for the new iPhone 12 series, Apple suppliers like Pegatron and Foxconn are offering their iPhone assembly line workers increased bonuses.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro started Friday, Oct. 16, while preorders for the other two models, the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, will begin November 6. Recent reports revealed that iPhone 12 preorders offered by Taiwanese carriers were sold out in only 45 minutes, though it was not clear how much supply did the two carriers made available for preorder. It may be this situation that prompted Taiwanese carriers to predict that sales of the new iPhone 12 will be the highest since the iPhone 6.

Early reports also state that iPhone 12 Pro pre-orders quickly sold out in the United States, with expected dates of delivery pushed back to mid-November less than an hour after Apple announced the commencement of preorders. Taiwanese carriers, and other mobile carriers around the globe, predict that based on the speed at which iPhone 12 preorders were sold out, the new iPhone series could easily match the high sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus when it was released way back in 2014. The two preceding models became very popular because of their large 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, which helped Apple sell around 135.6 million iPhones in two quarters following the launch of the devices.

Apple, however, stopped revealing actual sales figures of their devices after the 2018 fiscal year so any sales figures of the iPhone 12 are likely to be only estimates. Despite the lack of official data from the Cupertino-based tech company, Taiwanese carriers still predict that sales figures of iPhone 12 will be strong and may even match or surpass the record sales figure of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Industry observers say that the new features of the two iPhone models available for preorders last Friday may have attracted many of the buyers, causing the phones to be sold out in less than an hour. This is perhaps also why Taiwanese mobile carriers predicted a high sales figure for the iPhone 12 series, which may match or even exceed that of the iPhone 6 series. Among the features of the new iPhone 12 models include its 5G support, improved cameras, a faster A14 Bionic chip, a more durable front glass, and its new MagSafe accessories that allow for wireless charging at 15W.
