The first episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 had a lot of huge surprises for fans who have been waiting for the Star Wars series for a long time. In addition to the introduction of a character that originally appeared in the Star Wars books, the show also revealed that a certain bounty hunter managed to survive the events in Return of the Jedi.

Interestingly, Star Wars fans were not the only ones who got pleasant surprises in The Mandalorian Season 2. Deadwood enthusiasts who tuned in to see Timothy Olyphant in action also saw an unexpected reunion between the actor and one of his former co-stars.

There is little doubt that Timothy Olyphant's casting in The Mandalorian was exciting news for people who are well aware of his work. Although his role was not revealed right away, there were speculations that the Santa Clarita Diet star would portray a character similar to his Deadwood character Seth Bullock. Luckily, everything was revealed with the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2.

In Chapter 9: The Marshal, Mando searches for a fellow Mandalorian who was spotted on Tatooine. His search leads him to a tavern where the Weequay proprietor immediately directs him to the man he is looking for, who the bar owner happens to be friends with.

It is here that Timothy Olyphant was revealed to be playing Cobb Vanth, the marshal of the city of Mos Pelgo on Tatooine. Vanth is a lifelong resident of Tatooine but manages to get his hands on pieces of Mandalorian armor from the Jawas who saved his life during an attack by the Mining Collective. He uses the said armor to keep the peace in the city.

While it was cool to see Timothy Olyphant playing a space lawman in The Mandalorian Season 2, there was also something interesting about the Weequay proprietor of the tavern that Cobb Vanth is good friends with. The credits have actually confirmed that the alien was played by W. Earl Brown, who portrayed Dan Dority in Deadwood.

Although Timothy Olyphant and W. Earl Brown barely had any screentime together in The Mandalorian Season 2, it was still great to know that the two actors both appeared in the same episode of the Star Wars series. Hopefully, Mando will revisit Tatooine so fans could see these characters again in future episodes.

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1 is now available on Disney+.
