It looks like Toy Story fans are getting exactly what they want. Although Tom Hanks has already stated that Toy Story 4 is the final film in the Disney Pixar franchise, the studio has decided that there is one more story that needs to be told. Disney has just confirmed a prequel film will focus on a young Buzz Lightyear who will be played by none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

When Toy Story 4 was released last year, Tom Hanks made it clear that the movie would be the last one in the franchise. After all, it rounded out the story of the toys in a beautiful way. On the other hand, Tim Allen has teased on the possibility of a fifth film. In this case, Allen isn't wrong.

The new Toy Story movie was announced during Disney Investor Day where the official logo for Lightyear was unveiled. In addition to that, the prequel movie was confirmed to feature the voice of Chris Evans who will play the young Buzz Lightyear.

Not surprisingly, Chris Evans couldn't contain his excitement when the announcement was made. The Avengers: Endgame star immediately took to his official Instagram account to share the first official look at Lightyear along with some details on how he became part of the project.

According to Chris Evans, he feels that "working with Pixar is a dream come true" since he has "been a massive fan of their films since the very beginning." The Captain America: Civil War actor also pointed out that his team "could barely contain their excitement" when they were getting ready to pass Pixar's pitch to Evans.

"All they said was 'Buzz Lightyear'. I didn't know what that meant, since Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could ever touch his performance. I needed to know how this character was different and why this story was worth telling," Evans wrote.

It might still be a long wait for Lightyear but Chris Evans is already hyping up the upcoming Toy Story prequel film. "This one is gonna special, and it doesn't step on a single thing. I can't even put my excitement into words. I smile every time I think about it," Evans wrote about the movie.

For now, Chris Evans is the only name confirmed for the Toy Story prequel movie. It is also unclear if Tim Allen will return to share voice acting credits for Buzz Lightyear. However, Disney and Pixar have already confirmed that Lightyear is scheduled for release on June 17, 2022.
