Floyd Mayweather Jr. will meet Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match on Feb. 20, a clash that has drawn mixed reactions. Some feel that holding the boxing match will be bad for the sport. However, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman thinks otherwise.

The WBC prexy lauded Mayweather and Paul for doing the fight, saying it is good for the sport. He is backing it 100% and gave his take when he appeared on SiriusXM’s “The Ak and Barak Show” and reported by TMZ Sports.

"This is going to be something good for boxing," Sulaiman said. "This is going to bring millions of eyes to our sport."

The clash comes not long after Logan’s brother, Jake Paul, hacked out a vicious knockout win over former NBA player Nate Robinson. The fight was announced by Mayweather via his Instagram account.

Despite the criticism, most are eager to see Mayweather back in action since 2018. According to the event’s website, pay-per-view rates will start at $24.99 for the first one million subscribers. The rates will increase from there to $39.99. Come Dec. 29, the PPV price will jump to $59.99 and then to $69.99 on February 11.

The Mayweather vs. Paul fight was widely speculated when the two personalities went at it on social media. The fight was previously planned but nothing progressed until recently.

Some feel that the fight is bad for the sport. One of them is Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports who feel it is a low blow to boxing.

Regardless, Sulaiman feels that it is a great way to help promote boxing – particularly during these odd times. Mayweather is expected to be the heavy favorite over Paul.

The 25-year-old Paul has two fights to his credit. He fought rapper Olajide “KSI” Olatunji twice. In their first encounter, the clash ended in a draw. However, Paul came back in the rematch and won over the vlogger.

Mayweather last took the ring in 2018. He faced Tenshin Nasukawa in a three-round exhibition boxing match on Dec. 31, 2018. The undefeated boxer won that handily, dropping the Japanese kickboxer three times to win via technical knockout.

Before that, he faced Conor McGregor in 2017 and also won via TKO. Mayweather earned a big payday from both fights and is likely to have another one against Paul.

Details about the fight remain unknown for now. That includes the type of gloves that would be used, the number of rounds and scoring. These are expected to be announced soon.
