Customers who signed up to Apple TV+ have until July to enjoy their free subscriptions.

In what appears like a promise of hope for 2021, Apple announced they are extending their Apple TV+ free trials until July. This means customers who signed up for the streaming service get to enjoy several months more of a free Apple TV+ subscription.

In 2019, the Cupertino tech giant gave eligible customers a one-year free trial subscription for Apple TV+. All the customers need to do is to buy a new iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV and then activate their subscription. At the end of the free trial period, Apple then transfers users to a paid subscription, which costs $7.99 per month. In 2020, after the COVID-19 health crisis struck, Apple extended its free trial subscription until February of 2021. Today, online news outlet 9to5 Mac reported that the Cupertino tech giant is once again extending the free Apple TV+ free trials until July of 2021.

Who are eligible for the free trial extension?

According to information from Apple, customers who signed up for the Apple TV+ and received a free trial subscription can enjoy more months, at least until July, of the streaming service free of charge. Those who have an annual Apple TV+ subscription with expiration dates between February and June can also avail of the free subscription extension.

Apple reminds everyone, however, that the free subscription extension is only for those who redeemed the one-year Apple TV+ free trial subscription promo. This means those who are on a free monthly trial subscription are not eligible. Customers who pay for a monthly subscription, on the other hand, will receive Apple store credits for February to June. These store credits could offset their subscription cost.

Apple One subscribers who bought Apple TV+ as part of their package also get to receive the same store credit offer. News outlet 9to5 Mac reported that eligible customers in the coming weeks should receive an email from Apple notifying them about the Apple TV+ free trial subscription promo extension, which the Cupertino tech giant says is until July of this year.

Apple's TV+ free trial subscription promo extension means that if you activated your subscription back in November of 2019, you enjoy about 20 months of free access to the streaming service. Industry observers say the free trial extension offered by Apple defeats any 2-week free trials offered by other services. There is one catch though and it is that most of the flagship shows on the Apple TV+ had their next seasons delayed, meaning it does make sense for Apple to compensate for the lack of new content by extending the free trial period.
