Former NBA player Delonte West appears to be doing better, one year after he appeared to have hit rock bottom. No longer is the 37-year-old plying the streets and seemingly headed nowhere with the latest updates coming out.

The time West has spent in rehabilitation seems to have helped with the 24th pick of the 2004 NBA Draft now looking a whole lot better. He now has a job at the Rebound therapy center in Florida. It is the same place that helped get the former NBA player’s life back in order.

West can now be seen smiling and engaging in different activities. This includes horseback riding, frisbee golf and kayaking, just some of the things that helped him back on track.

Now a lot better, West will continue to stay at the rehab facility after he was hired to be one of the employees of the center, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported. It is a huge turnaround for the NBA cager who just last year was seen getting beat up and being down in the dumps.

Aside from this good news, West continues to keep in touch with Dallas Mavericks team owner Mark Cuban. Recall that it was the Mavs top brass who reached out and convinced West to undergo rehab together with West’s mother.

West saw his NBA career sputter following a stint with the Boston Celtics, Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks. He tried to get things back on track joining other cage leagues but a hard time surviving. He last played for the Texas Legends in 2015 before he was cut after suffering a season-ending injury.

No one knew much about what happened from there until disturbing videos of West popped up online. It was clear that the 37-year-old was struggling and hit rock bottom.

In 2020, videos of him getting beat up in the streets emerged. Upon seeing this, there were a lot of personalities who tried to help him back on his feet. Aside from Cuban, there was NBA coach Doc Rivers and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers. Each tried to assist the hard-luck cager.

In the end, rehab was the best way for him to get his life in order. It is a step in the right direction and West is looking a whole lot different from how fans remembered him last year. Hopefully, his progress continues and improves moving forward.
