New Amsterdam season 3 is arriving next month on NBC and it's going to feature emotional stories when it premieres. The medical drama will be taking on the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving the fate of certain characters in question. In fact, one of the doctors is in jeopardy.
Recently, NBC dropped the latest trailer of New Amsterdam season 3 featuring emotional and dramatic storylines. The current situation challenged the doctors as they need to deal with the effects and impact of the global health crisis on everyone.
There is also a possibility that one of them suffers due to the virus. Based on the clip, Dr. Vijay Kapoor (Anupam Kher) is not in a good condition. He seems unconscious and there is no guarantee that he'll be fine. This is going to be the major focus in the early run, highlighting that anyone can be infected.
Beyond this, there are also other significant storylines coming in New Amsterdam season 3. For instance, Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) wants to rebuild the health system after being impacted by the health crisis. He is determined to make a change even though he knows the process won't be easy.
Max will do whatever he can to help, especially now he took over New Amsterdam. He, along with his team, try to sustain optimism in the hospital amidst the pandemic. The health crisis also exposed the inequities in healthcare -- and he's no longer contented in fixing a broken system.
In New Amsterdam season 3, Max is determined to tear the broken system down and build something better than that. Throughout the upcoming installment, he'll try to find a way to fix the health care in the hospital while maintaining optimism.
As for what else is coming, Max's relationship with Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) will continue to play out. However, the situation becomes complicated now that Dr. Cassian Shin (Daniel Dae Kim) showed up in the picture. There's going to be a potential love triangle involving the three of them
In a past interview with TVLine, executive producer David Schulner also teased how Sharpe's storyline will evolve moving forward. He noted that viewers will learn more about the character, particularly her home, family, as well as whom she's sharing the bed with.
Schulner said that the revelations won't only surprise the audience -- but her friends in the hospital, as well. The executive producer added that the upcoming installment will raise a question on whether or not the doctors know her really well.
New Amsterdam season 3 premieres on Tuesday, March 2, on NBC.
