Netflix continues to expand its anime library these past few months. After the premiere of a few titles earlier in March, the streaming giant is now gearing up for the release of new content, which includes Yasuke.

On Thursday, they dropped the first trailer for the upcoming anime series on their platform. Comic Book Resources described the teaser materials as "bloody," considering how the visuals portrayed a war-torn landscape.

The official trailer has provided the public with the first look at the Black samurai anime series, which stars LaKeith Stanfield. It continues to draw the attention of many because the titular role is deemed to be the "first African samurai."

Apart from Yasuke's brief introduction, the trailer has given the audience an idea as to how the animation looks. It has, also, introduced some of the characters that will be featured on the show.

Reports said that LeSean Thomas serves as the director and executive producer of the anime series. As for the entire animation, MAPPA, who worked on Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Jujutsu Kaisen, collaborates with animator Takeshi Koike for the character designs.

Meanwhile, Flying Lotus produces the music for the series. Also, LaKeith Stanfield serves as a producer, apart from being the voice actor for the series lead.

Yasuke is a tale set in a "war-torn feudal Japan." But, unlike the historical and real-life events, the show features "mechs and magic."

The titular role is, also, described as the "greatest ronin never known." Based on the official synopsis, he "struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence."

The plot seemingly begins with a local village becoming the center of social upheaval. Amid the uprising, Yasuke "must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child, who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords."

While the teaser trailer has provided the "bloody" aesthetic of a war-centered era, Polygon said that it did not feature much anything about the mechs. This has become one of the intriguing points of Yasuke because Netflix, reportedly, keeps on using it as a teaser and implying that it is an "important part of the show."

Yasuke will officially drop on the platform on April 29. As for the number of episodes and length of each installment, no word has been shared yet before the public. Nevertheless, fans may expect to receive more details about the upcoming anime series in the next few weeks, ahead of its premiere.
