The iPhone 13 line, which was unveiled Tuesday at an Apple hardware event, features new colors and design changes over the iPhone 12 models from last year.

The four iPhone 13 variants include a base model, a Mini, a Pro, and a Pro Max, all of which have upgrades including a smaller notch and improved battery life.

As for the colors, the long-rumored Pink hue has emerged, along with Product Red, Blue, Midnight, and Starlight. But that's just for the base iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini. The Pro and Pro Max variants come in Sierra Blue, Gold, Graphite, and Silver.

Since the 2017 iPhone X, Apple has included a notched display on every iPhone as a location for the selfie camera. The iPhone 13 would have a smaller notch than its predecessors, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicted this in March.

Apple revealed at its announcement on Tuesday that the iPhone 13's notch is 20% smaller than the iPhone 12.

The two iPhone 13 Pro variants include a 120Hz display, as predicted by Kuo in March. The number of hertz a phone screen can display relates to the number of frames per second it can display, which impacts how fast and smooth you can navigate between apps and webpages. It also has an influence on how smooth supported games run.

While iPhones no longer have a headphone jack, some speculated that the introduction of MagSafe accessories last year suggested that the next iPhone would be portless. All iPhone 13 models, however, have a Lightning port.

Each of the four iPhone 13 models has a longer-lasting battery than the iPhone 12. The 120Hz display on the Pro versions is supported by this. The longer battery life is the result of a larger battery, iOS 15, and the A15 Bionic chip.

Here's how much longer the new phones' batteries will last, according to Apple, than their iPhone 12 counterparts:

  • iPhone 13: 2.5 hours

  • iPhone 13 Mini: 1.5 hours

  • iPhone 13 Pro: 1.5 hours

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 2.5 hours

As with previous iPhones, pricing will depend on the model and storage capacity. The iPhone 13 starts at $799, iPhone 13 Mini starts at $699, iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at $1,099.

Apple announced that preorders for all new iPhone 13 models will begin on Friday, Sept 17.
