The celebration for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee is about to occur in a few months. There will be a number of touching tributes to honor Her Majesty herself and new plans to celebrate the event are now in place.
Different special events will take place on the four-day bank holiday weekend from June 2 to June 5. Queen Elizabeth is the first Monarch who sits on the throne for 70 years, so the public can expect big celebrations.
Express revealed the charities in the country would show their support to the leader of the Commonwealth realms by lighting beacons across the U.K. This event will be backed by Girlguiding, Walking with the Wounded and the National Trust.
More than 1,500 beacons will be lighted up for four days, while the primary beacon will be at Buckingham Palace. Girlguiding group members will be lighting up about 70 beacons, while the servicemen and women will light theirs on the highest peaks of each of the country's four nations, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, other charities, like Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland and The National Coastwatch Institution, will also show their support for Queen Elizabeth. In addition, a giant slide will also be installed at the Tower of London, along with a stunning floral display that will fill the moat around the tower with 20 million flowers, per People.
The slide will be a fun way to enter the moat with four lanes so that people can walk around the floral display on mats. However, there will also be another entrance to the moat aside from the slide, which was originally commissioned by the National Trust to be used at Cliveden House.
The event will be called "Superbloom," conceived by Historic Royal Palaces, which manages the royal palaces throughout the U.K. So for the first time, the tower will welcome the visitors in.
Tom O'Leary, Director of Public Engagement at Historic Royal Palaces, said they hope the slide will be a big hit for the families. He also called it a unique way to celebrate and was also thankful that they managed to recycle the said slide, making it possible for them to do this thing sustainably.
Aside from these two special events, there will also be a service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral to honor Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. A Derby at Epsom Downs, a live concert called "Platinum Party at the Palace," the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant will also be held.
