At 12:57 PM on April 18, 2023, the Fengtai District Fire Rescue Brigade received a report of a fire at the east building of Beijing Changfeng Hospital's inpatient department. Upon receiving the report, emergency responders from fire, public security, health, and emergency departments rushed to the scene. The blaze was extinguished around 1:33 PM. At 3:30 PM, the rescue operation concluded, with 71 patients evacuated.

As of 6 PM, 21 people have unfortunately died after unsuccessful medical treatment. The cause of the accident is under further investigation.
