Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater are head over heels in love with each other, but they are allegedly not being respected by their friends and fans nearly enough for her liking. This is causing a great deal of tension and misery behind the scenes, a new reported claimed.
“Ariana’s used to getting praised everywhere she goes, by fans and fellow celebrities, so it’s been a huge adjustment to go from that, to everyone judging her as this cold-hearted home wrecker. She still gets so many hate messages from the public, and so does Ethan, they try to avoid reading them as much as possible but whenever Ariana gives in and looks at the stuff it has her in tears,” an unnamed source told Life & Style Magazine.
According to the insider, Ariana, who is 30 years old, and Ethan, who is 32 years old, had the impression that "everyone is against them" because they began dating when he was married to Lilly Jay, who was his wife at the time.
“She’s found this man she loves. Sure, the circumstances of how they got together may look bad, but that’s because no one knows the details firsthand. She’s sure people would have a different view if they were in her shoes. But any time she tries to defend herself, she gets a whole new onslaught of hate,” the informant added.
"She wants to be much more open about things and celebrate their love, but how can she when people just tear them to pieces every time they're seen together," the source claims, adding that Ariana believes that they have been punished enough.
In the summer of 2023, after Ariana had ended her marriage to her ex-husband Dalton Gomez, rumors began to spread that she had moved on with Ethan when they were participating in the production of the film adaptation of “Wicked.”
On July 26, 2023, Ethan filed for divorce from Lilly, who was 29 years old at the time, in response to the dating allegations. Almost immediately, a lot of people began to think that Ethan had abandoned Lilly, with whom he has a son, in order to be with the singer of "7 rings."
Although neither Ariana nor Ethan have made any public statements regarding the reason for his divorce, Lilly has thrown some light on the subject by making a negative comment about her ex's new fiancée.
“[Ariana’s] the story, really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage,” Lilly told Page Six in July after her marital problems with Ethan made headlines.
It has been about a year after the revelation of Ariana and Ethan's romance, and it appears that they are still going strong despite the criticism that has been directed on their relationship. The couple was recently photographed attending the 2024 Stanley Cup Final in Sunrise, Florida, on June 8, which was a rare public date night.
