Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife, Princess Charlene, have successfully turned their difficult marriage around and pulled it back from the brink of collapse by reaching an agreement that places the South African beauty in charge of her life and gives her the ability to make key decisions, a new report claimed.
As the royal couple of Monaco celebrated their thirteenth wedding anniversary, they were captured in photographs appearing more content than they ever have before. They were seen standing on the balcony of the palace and staring at each other, together with their twin children, Jacques and Gabriella, who are nine years old. A crowd of well-wishers clapped in the street below them.
An unnamed source told Globe Magazine that the reason their relationship appears to be stronger is because of a change in the dynamic of their marriage, which has given Charlene a greater degree of control over her life.
“Charlene has emerged more confident and less anxious in public and private settings as a result. If she doesn’t want to go to an event, she doesn’t go. If she doesn’t want to meet with a particular person at the palace, she may beg off,” the anonymous insider claimed.
“It’s the same with outfits. She wears what she wants — no one can dictate to her how she should look or behave. Albert’s not exactly over the moon about it, as it ultimately puts him in second place, but he’s willing to do it,” the informant went on.
The tight-fisted Prince Albert, who is 66 years old, has also reluctantly loosened the purse reins, which means that his wife, who is 46 years old, can spend as much as she wants.
“People may say he’s henpecked, but Albert and Charlene are in a much better place than they were a couple years ago when she was visibly in turmoil — physically and emotionally — and he was fending off divorce rumors every two minutes,” the tipster added.
When Princess Charlene left to her home country of South Africa in the midst of a lawsuit accusing Prince Albert of having fathered a third love child, which he vehemently denied, the once-complaining sovereigns went through a period of their marriage that was extremely difficult.
Eventually, Princess Charlene made her way back to Monaco, only to be transferred to a Swiss medical facility, where she was treated for a mysterious disease that some people believe was mental and involving electroshock therapy, PEOPLE Magazine reported. She remained there for several months.
“Now he’s given her the freedom she craved and they’re happier because of it,” the mole stated.
