The U.S. visa application of Prince Harry, who acknowledged drug use in his contentious memoir, has been decided by a judge.
In January 2023's "Spare," the Duke of Sussex confessed to consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms, cocaine, and marijuana. To determine if the Prince Harry's drug use was disclosed, the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit requesting that the government produce data regarding his visa application, as per The Mirror.
Government "fully vetted" and procedure-following about Prince Harry's admission to the nation was called into doubt, according to the Washington-based nonprofit, due to the "widespread and continuous" reporting of his drug use. According to the group, "generally renders such a person inadmissible for entry" according to U.S. law.
In his bombshell memoir, Prince Harry confessed that cocaine "didn't do anything for me. Marijuana is different, that actually really did help me."
An encounter with enchanted mushrooms is also detailed by him. "I stared at the bin. It stared back. 'What-staring? ' Then it became... ahead. I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin,” he stated.
"It was the cleaning of the windshield, the removal of life’s filters — these layers of filters," Prince Harry revealed in an online interview with trauma expert Gabor Maté regarding his usage of hallucinogens. It took everything away and made me feel calm, relieved, comfortable, and lighthearted—things I was able to contain for a while.
The U.S. visa application process can be slowed down if the applicant is asked about their current and prior drug use. Although immigration officials weigh a number of variables when making decisions, heavy drug use is one of them.
Nevertheless, a U.S. court has now determined that Prince Harry's application must stay confidential, as per Hindustan Times. That "the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke's immigration records" was Carl Nichols' Monday ruling. "Like any foreign national, the duke has a legitimate privacy interest in his immigration status,” he stated.
The judge ruled that the public's interest in seeing Prince Harry's immigration documents should not be compromised since the duke's privacy "outweighed" it. This choice is made at the same time that the Duke is attending a symposium in New York City with Diana Award recipients to address the worldwide youth mental health epidemic.
During his solo East Coast trip, which includes two days of activities during UN General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week, Prince Harry is advocating issues that are important to his heart and those associated with his late mother, Princess Diana.
Surprises were felt all across the globe when Prince Harry stepped down from major royal duties in the U.K. in January 2020. Just before Buckingham Palace put a halt to it, he and his American bride Meghan Markle began a new life in the U.S. with their family, hoping to create their “Sussex Royal” brand.
