The latest cover of Vogue Mexico, on which Angelina Jolie appeared, was met with disapproval from a number of her admirers, who stated that the actress seemed "sad" on the cover.

The "Gia" star, who is 49 years old, was featured on the magazine's December edition cover. According to the Daily Mail, she discussed letting go of her "private pain" in the article and made a reference to her divorce from her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, who is 60 years old.

A contentious 2016 incident on an aircraft led to Angelina's divorce from her film star husband. In her interview, she talked about how she was able to cope with the trauma by using her future role as Maria Callas, an opera singer, in a new biopic.

Angelina's solemn look and flowing chestnut hair created a melancholy image. The magazine cover featured Angelina, photographed by Dan Martensen, wearing a black Christian Dior outfit.

According to Yahoo!, supporters flocked to the internet to criticize the "unflattering" cover, with one saying, "She looks really sad here, like she got the worst possible news just before she walked on set."

"These look like outtakes. It takes skill to make Angelina Jolie look this bad," another chimed. "That's quite an unflattering shot of Angelina Jolie. Not her best angle. That being said, I like the coloring and the simplicity of it all," a third fan wrote.

Another commentator described the image as "so low budget." “She looks so sad. This doesn’t reflect her usual elegance," @FanGirl4Life said. “These look like outtakes. Making Angelina look bad is a skill I didn’t know existed!” @VisualStylist added. “Not her best angle, but I appreciate the simplicity and natural colors," another netizen said.

Others, on the other hand, praised the unfiltered nature of the photograph.

"I love the idea of Angelina Jolie as a cover star. Her face at least wasn't retouched in such a way magazines do," one fan wrote. “Finally, a cover where her face isn’t overly edited. Refreshing to see real beauty!” another fan shared. “The unfiltered nature of this shoot makes it stand out. Jolie’s honesty shines through," @RawAndReal said.

During her interview, Angelina discussed her most recent role and elaborated on how opera allowed her to explore "deeper parts of myself" and life. She also discussed how she learned to "access a new part of herself" to sing.

"I had to take a deep breath and let it all out, and in between that, I also had to let out my real voice... which I also didn't really have, because it's where I carried my private pain, my gentleness, and a lot of things that I felt I didn't own, that I didn't feel safe letting out, it also involved owning something that I didn't want to deal with," she said.

"There's something that happens in these beautiful pieces of music that you can't sing unless you can access a certain part of yourself," Angelina added.
