Kevin O'Leary confirmed Donald Trump is hosting discussions at Mar-a-Lago about integrating Canada into the United States as the 51st state. The talks, centered on economic and security benefits, highlight Trump's vision of a unified North America amid growing geopolitical and financial challenges.
Trump Explores Bold Plan to Make Canada the 51st State
Kevin O'Leary, a successful businessman and star of the television show "Shark Tank," has claimed that President-elect Donald Trump is holding negotiations at Mar-a-Lago regarding the possibility of incorporating Canada into the United States.
O'Leary stated to Fox News that he took part in the conversations that took place at Mar-a-Lago after Trump made a post on Truth Social suggesting that Canada will have the status of the "51st state."
"If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them," Trump wrote. "Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!"
Martha MacCallum, the host of the Fox News interview, noted that O'Leary, who is a Canadian citizen, showed some pretty strong views toward the possibility of the United States combining with Canada.
O'Leary Pushes for a Unified North American Union
O'Leary disclosed that he had two subjects that he desired to discuss with Trump. The first of these was the incorporation of Canada into a North American union for the sake of achieving greater strength.
It would be easy for the Canadian government to take advantage of a unified currency-for instance, by merging the Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve-in light of the current global climate without compromising Canadian sovereignty, he went on to say.
Calls for Canadian Leadership Reform Before Integration
On the other hand, O'Leary stated that he appealed with Trump to let the Canadian people to have the opportunity to re-elect a leader, just like he was re-elected, The Raw Story reports.
Additionally, the billionaire explained to Trump a strategy that would involve the acquisition of TikTok from its parent company in China.
TikTok Acquisition and Broader Strategic Plans
"Trump will be who we have to work with to close the deal in the months ahead," O'Leary added. "So I wanted to let him know, as well as others in his cabinet, that we're doing this and we're gonna need their help."
