The Meizu 16 Series is scheduled to be launched in China on Aug. 8, and a new variant has popped up out of the wild. The white version for the mobile phone surfaced recently, and its screen-to-body ration stood out.

One notable feature is the on-screen fingerprint scanner found at the bottom of the display. Aside from that, the white color scheme also shows how slim the side bezels are of the device. Even noticeable is the selfie camera that stands out at the top part of the handset.

The Meizu 16 is looming as a promising device for the midrange market. It will sport a 6-inch AMOLED full HD display (2160 x 1080p, 18:9 aspect ratio) and be powered by a 2.8 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It will also come with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage. Other default features include the retention of the 3.5 mm audio port and USB Type-C interface.

The device will come with a rear 12 MP +20 MP dual camera that can support up to 3X optical zoom. Up front is a 20 MP shooter that should appeal to folks planning to use the device for video calls or taking selfie photos. The Meizu 16 will have a 2,950 mAh Li-Ion battery and come pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, according to GSM Arena.

Folks who want something bigger can consider the Meizu 16 Plus. The device boasts of a 16.5-inch AMOLED display that supports FHD+ resolution. It also comes with a bigger 3,750 mAh battery. Outside of those two mentioned features, the rest of the components will be the same as the Meizu 16. Among the color variants it will come out with include Dark Ochre, Mirror Silver, and Mirror Blue color variants.

With regards to pricing, Gizmo China believes that the Meizu 16 6 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM variant will be priced starting at $525. With its release date barely a week away, the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus will be joined by another product in the Meizu Gravity Speaker, a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ready audio-rendering solution that includes a pair of 1.25-inch full-range speakers.

So far, the Meizu 16 is showing a lot of promise as it hopes to improve on its predecessor. The Meizu 15, the company’s anniversary phone, offered a unique and refreshing design that allowed it to stand out. A concern was the short battery life, SCMP.com said. For now, it remains to be seen if that issue has been addressed for the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus.
