Xiaomi is expected to launch new devices this year in the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and possibly the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. Of the two, the former was already announced last March with no official word on the Mi MIX 3.

However, a new leak shared via Weibo could see the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 come out on September 15. A photo showing half of the device has come out in the open, leading to speculations that the bezel-less variant may be coming soon.

Further adding support to that possibility are the captions that came along with the photo. After applying the necessary translations, the first line asks if the phone will come with a full-screen display while the second says “All cut off.” The date, September 15 (9.15) is indicated in the middle which may point to seeing the device also coming on the said date.

Analyzing the translated messages, Gizmo China believes that these are clear indicators that the market will see the debut of another Xiaomi device carrying a bezel-less display. Before the photo made its way out, there were already rumors about the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. The device will allegedly take a new design, the most significant change in the said handset. Apart from that, there are suggestions that it may even come with a pop-up selfie camera similar to the Vivo NEX.

For now, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt until the Chinese smartphone company confirms or sheds some light on the teaser photo. Seeing the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 come out alongside the Mi MIX 2S could be possible although this would alter the frequency of release of new phones on Xiaomi’s end.

Seeing a successor to the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 makes sense since its successor comes exactly one year after it debuted. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 was launched six months after, sending feelers that Xiaomi may be refreshing the series every six months.

Among the new features for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S include a change in design and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The built-in cameras have yet to be confirmed although it is likely to offer dual rear cameras.

As far as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is concerned, there is a chance that Xiaomi would be launching the handset to provide techies a bird’s eye view of what is coming up next. Seeing that little is known about the specs (outside the bezel-less display and overhauled design), the features could be spilled to spur up some excitement.
