The OnePlus 6 is one of the ideal handsets to have these days, carrying impressive specs that cost reasonably. However, it seems that the smartphone has stumbled upon a flickering display issue although this could be resolved soon.

The problem was brought up at the OnePlus Forums, where device owners have complained about flickering displays that occurs when the adaptive brightness feature is turned on. OnePlus took note of the issue and could be offering a needed fix soon.

The Shenzen-based company will reportedly include the fix once it rolls out its next OTA update this August according to an announcement made by OnePlus. The fix is expected to be bundled with the following security patch although there is no actual date announced for now on when it will become available.

For those who may not have heard about the flickering display issue for the OnePlus 6, users claim that the problem started when they upgraded to the latest OxygenOS 5.1.8. The issue happens when a device is used in bright sunlight and when the adaptive brightness mode is turned on.

The latest problem follows several issues tied up to the OnePlus 6. Before the flickering display issue, the device made headlines for battery drain problems after upgrading to the same OxygenOS version. The same problem was also reported by users who had the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T that ran on OxygenOS 5.0.3.

It should be worth noting as well that the upcoming patch follows the release of OxygenOS 5.1.9. This patch added the Sleep Standby Optimization feature with hopes of improving battery life and addressing the battery drain issue. Unfortunately, it did not include a fix for the display.

Until the actual fix starts rolling out, there are several temporary solutions to the problem. According to NDTV, one is to clear the cache to resolve the flickering display issue temporarily. Aside from that, one of the users at the OnePlus forums suggested using the third-party Lux to help the device adjust brightness accurately when used in direct sunlight.

The OnePlus 6 is the latest device from the Chinese smartphone company that sports a 6.28-inch (2280x1080p) screen display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset backed by either a 6 GB or 8 GB RAM with 64 GB/ 128 GB and 256 GB internal storage options. It also boats of a main dual camera (16 MP + 20 MP) and a front-facing 16 MP camera.

Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM capable and backed by a 3,300 mAh battery. The patch could roll out at any time, and users can frequently make checks by heading over to the Settings>System updates option.
