The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 was, unsurprisingly, unraveled at the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference in China, looming as one of the best laptops to get in the market today. The device succeeds the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro that launched in September 2017.

As mentioned in a previous post, the latest notebook offering from the Chinese company the key products that were unveiled at the gaming and digital entertainment event. Perceived as a gaming laptop, the high-powered device did not disappoint in terms of specs.

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 totes the same 15.6-inch full HD display boasting of a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Thanks in part to the IPS display panel, the laptop offers excellent viewing angles accompanied by 300 nits of brightness.

Under the hood, the upgrades are as speculated with the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 coming with an Intel i7-8750-based Coffee Lake chipset. The bump in SoC is expected to improve performance by at least 31.7-percent since the new chip now has 6-cores instead of the four that its predecessor had to offer, Gizmo China pointed out.

The specs will vary since there will be two models available. On one end is the high-end version sporting the latest Intel Core i7-8550U processor complemented by 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage. For graphics, the device will have an NVIDIA GTX-1050 Max Q GPU with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory.

Potential buyers who want to tone down the specs and cost a bit can check out the second variant. This model comes with an Intel Core i5-8250U chipset along with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM. The SSD storage and GPU remain the same as the high-end model.

Other features that both models have to offer include a 60-watt-hour battery, a fingerprint sensor with support for Windows Hello and USB Type-C fast charging. The device will also come with Hi-Res audio and Dolby Atmos integration, three USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an HDMI 2.0 port and standard connectivity options (i.e., Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.1).

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 runs on Microsoft Windows 10 Home OS and comes with a pre-installed Office 2016 for students. There will be four variants available and detailed below. Pricing for the base model starts at $975, according to Techpp.com.

  • Intel Core i5-8300H, 8GB of DDR4 2666 MHz RAM, GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 256GB SSD, 1TB hard drive ($975).
  • Intel Core i7-8750H, 16GB of DDR4 2666 MHz RAM, GTX 1060 6GB, 256GB SSD, 1TB hard drive ($1,300).
  • Intel Core i7-8750H, 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz RAM, GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 256GB SSD, 1TB hard drive ($1,160).
  • Intel Core i5-8300H, 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz RAM, GTX 1060 6GB, 256GB SSD, 1TB hard drive ($1,100).

All models are expected to become available in China starting Aug. 16. There is no official word for now on its availability worldwide.
