The race for augmented reality technology has just gotten more interesting as Apple Inc. is reportedly developing a more-powerful 3D camera which could be ready for launch next year. Unfortunately, this means that the 3D camera will not be available for the iPhone 11. Nevertheless, the iPhone 11 will still be equipped with a top-of-the-line triple-lens camera.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the Apple iPhone 11 could have a third camera on the rear. The report further states that the third rear camera would allow the iPhone 11 to take wide-angle photos and would allow the device to have a wider range of zoom. This means that the triple-lens camera on the 2019 iPhone model is designed to "capture more pixels."
And the more pixels the triple-lens camera could capture, the more the Apple software can do with an image or video. Sources close to the people involved in the design process hint that the software would allow users to "automatically repair a video or photo to fit in a subject that may have been accidentally cut off from the initial shot."
The triple-lens camera will also bring an improvement to the Live Photos feature of the iPhone. For the iPhone 11, the new triple-lens camera will be able to extend the three-second length of captured videos to six seconds.
While the triple-lens camera reportedly equipped in the iPhone 11 is a serious upgrade compared to the current competition, the Apple's laser-powered 3D camera would have given the iPhone 11 the edge it needs to not only arrest its slide but also set a new norm for the mobile phone industry.
According to the recent reports, Apple's vastly improved 3D camera would be equipped in the iPhone series in 2020. It would be a rear-facing camera that would be able to use a laser scanner.
The 3D camera would also extend its working range to 15 feet. That said, the arrival of the 3D camera would replace iPhone's TrueDepth projection tech and would enable the 2020 iPhone to be used for augmented reality.
That being said, Apple's 3D camera would likely debut with the iPad Pro 2020. The next generation iPad Pro is scheduled to be launched as early as spring 2020.
The latest from the rumor mill suggests that the 2019 Apple iPhone could come with variants: the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Max, and the iPhone 11 XR. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max and iPhone 11 XR could fetch as much as £999/$999, £1099/$1099, and £749/$749, respectively. The 2019 Apple iPhone series is also expected to come out in September.
