ZCash Company says goodbye to their old name and says hello to Electric Coin Company, their new brand name.
ZCash Company announced on February 21 that they will no longer be using the name ZCash Company and will instead be using Electric Coin Company. The announcement was made through a blog post by Josh Swihart.
The ZCash Company representative assured that the change of name will be purely for clarity. He further added that the company's mission to empower everyone with economic freedom and opportunity will remain the same even though they will be using the Electric Coin Company from then on.
Swihart clarified that they were never registered as the ZCash Company. Their legal name has always been Zerocoin Electric Coin Company, LLC when they were established in 2014. ZCash was just a name they chose to call their team.
He further elaborated that the name ZCash is actually the name of their supported cryptocurrency which they also build. He stressed out that there are also other people in the community helping them in supporting the cryptocurrency.
The representative from the now Electric Coin Company also clarified the connection they have with the ZCash Company which bears the same name as the one they chose to call their team for the past years. To further clear up the confusion Swihart stated that they are not ZCash Foundation He further said that they have a separate set of board of directors and both are run by different missions.
Although ZCash Foundation works together with the Electric Coin Company towards making the ZCash cryptocurrency adapted to the general society, the foundation is a distinct organization. It is as a 501(3)c non-profit corporation with the mission of building internet payment and privacy infrastructure for the public good by focusing on financial privacy.
The Electric Coin Company, formerly known as the ZCash Company is composed of 30 people from across the globe. Reports say that some of them are business executives, scientists, engineers, and others working together as a for-profit company.
The former ZCash Company will be using the name Electric Coin Company for all their messaging and correspondence immediately. There are certain aspects however that are under development such as their company email address, social media properties such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, the Electric Coin Company information will be moved from https://z.cash/ to a new domain with its own website and more.
The Electric Coin Company is expecting a lot of opportunities as well as challenges with its new name. The team however assured that the companies commitment does not change.
