Dr. Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) is going to keep fighting for his job on The Good Doctor season 2. In episode 17, titled Breakdown, Shaun will confront Dr. Jackson Han (played by Daniel Dae Kim), the new chief of surgery, who transferred him out of the surgical team and into Pathology.

According to Entertainment WeeklyThe Good Doctor season 2 episode 17, which will air on Monday, March 4, at 10:00 p.m. on ABC, will have Shaun barging into Han's office. He will demand that he be reinstated to the Surgery department. This time, he won't back down from his boss and he will not leave his office until he gets an affirmative answer.

This bold move will put a huge risk on Shaun's job and not just in his place in the team. The Good Doctor season 2 episode 17 is the penultimate episode of the season and the consequences of Shaun's resolve to push for his job will flow into the finale, which airs the following Monday, March 11.

"Shaun takes it upon himself to fight," Kim said. "The ramifications are what happens in the finale."

The reason why Shaun is so adamant to get back to surgery in The Good Doctor season 2 episode 17 is because of the patient's interesting case. The surgical team is going to do a dangerous procedure that involves removing a tumor on a patient and Shaun is desperate to be a part of it, as per the episode synopsis. Instead, however, Shaun will be asked to look into the case of an infant patient with injuries. Shaun will feel that he'll have more use in surgery so he will insist this with Han.

But it's fair to say that Shaun could win over Han given that ABC renewed The Good Doctor for a third season, as per The Hollywood ReporterBut it's still unclear if Han will be a permanent character on the show moving forward.

Kim is responsible for bringing The Good Doctor on American television as one of the executive producers. Since 2013, Kim has been developing the series based on a Korean drama and executive producer David Shore also took interest in making the show.

The actor said that he's been wearing the producer hat on The Good Doctor for a while now that finally stepping up as an actor made him nervous. Yet he's also still primarily the show's executive producer than the talent, so he'll keep watching The Good Doctor from behind the monitors. Viewers will have to find out if Han stays by watching the season finale on March 11.
