There will be a lot to look forward to when Toronto's fictional high school premieres into the succeeding segment. Considering that many characters from the last installment had graduated, new students are set to take the limelight in Degrassi: Next Class Season 5.

Creator and executive producer Linda Schuyler has already stated that the creative team of the show is already in the process of scribbling storylines for the 5th and 6th stretches. Even with a contract still to be renewed for Degrassi: Next Class Season 5, the probability of an extended run is still in the offing.

Two segments have been presented annually for the show. If the trend continues, the 5th stretch will likely bring respective events for the summer and for the winter. New individuals will be added to boost the upcoming television flick.

The Degrassi seniors exiting the show include Zoe, Tristan, Zig, Grace, Jonah, Winston, and Miles. What makes the high school program engaging is the presence of new characters. There will always be fresh stories to follow.

Adding excitement to the Canadian school drama are the alumni figures who tend to drop by at some point. Jake Epstein's Craig Manning has made an appearance in Season 4. Adamo Ruggiero's Marco manages to join him.

Shane Kippel's Spinner, Lauren Collins's Paige, and Miriam McDonald's Emma have also returned to the high school presentation. It should be noted that the program has been on air with different versions since 1979.

Leading the notable school staff is Stefan Brogren's Archie Simpson who is the principal. Joining him are Michael Brown, Ashley Comeau and Tom Melissis who teaches Creative Writing, Chemistry and History, respectively. Pay Chen is also on the list as a Mandarin teacher.

Meanwhile, student mainstays Spencer MacPherson, Amir Bageria, Jamie Bloch and Parham Rownaghi will portray students Hunter Hollingsworth, Baaz Nahir, Yael Baron and Saad Al-Maliki. Sarah Waisglass's Frankie and Amanda Arcuri's Lola Pacini will also be there.

The contemporary presentations of the program have started since 2001. Some of the cast from the 80s have joined the series. Aside from Brogren, who is also a director and producer for the show, Amanda Stepto's Spike Nelson and Pat Mastroianni's Joey Jeremiah have also been on board.

The remarkable run of Degrassi has been sustained by a combination of new and old subplots. In addition, spinoffs from former characters and previous episodes are also introduced to spice up the program.

Netflix will be the global distribution outfit for Degrassi: Next Class Season 5. Canada's Family Channel will bring the show on its F2N teen pipeline.
