A new report says Nintendo will be holding a Nintendo Direct event real soon. This event might be a big one, as the game company is expected to make a few announcements. Read on for more details.
According to Gaming Intel, a reliable source for game news leaks, Nintendo will be holding a major Nintendo Direct event this week. The gaming news outlet only announced this now as they said they wanted to acquire confirmation before making the reveal.
Gaming Intel, citing an unnamed "exclusive" source they trusted for having had several "correct" leaks in the past, said the Nintendo Direct will be held on April 12, 2019, Thursday. They said this is very likely according to some historical clues.
First, Nintendo is known to hold main Nintendo Directs near the beginning of a month. Although the 12th day isn't really that near to the month's first day, it's farther from the last day of the month, which makes sense. Second, Gaming Intel notes that main Nintendo Directs tend to be held on Thursdays.
Although Gaming Intel's leaker can be deemed reliable, and although the historical clues seem to imply the leak is true, it's always best to take it just like any other leak -- with a grain of salt. If the leak is true, then the world will see a Nintendo Direct this week; if not, then there won't be one.
Possible announcements
So far, there's no confirmation as to what's going to be shown during the upcoming Nintendo Direct. The rumor mill itself is silent, but if current news and updates are anything to go by, the game company might announce a lot of things both big and small.
First, there's news about Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime's retirement. As he's retiring on April 15, Games Radar says the Nintendo Direct will be a good time to announce that, and give the guy a great send-off.
Second, Nintendo might announce the coming of "Persona 5" protagonist the Joker to "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate." Both titles are popular among gamers, and a coming together of the two deserves a great welcome.
Third, there's still a host of other games that fans are waiting for, including "Luigi's Mansion 3," "Metroid Prime Trilogy," "Zelda: A Link to the Past," "Persona 5 The Royal," and "Animal Crossing Switch." Nintendo might as well announce these here.
Lastly, although Nintendo has already announced that VR support is coming to "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Zelda: Breath of the Wild," the Nintendo Direct would be the best time and place for them to show the two titles in full VR action.
