The Undertaker emerged at the June 24 edition of WWE Raw and an odd match. The Dead Man came out of nowhere to help out Roman Reigns who was in a handicap match against Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre. While that storyline has been going on for a while now, the better question is why did the Phenom issue the assist.
It was an odd scene considering the Undertaker helped the same man who defeated him at Wrestlemania 33. The Dead Man got the worst end of that matchup and would eventually be sidelined for a year, WWE.com said. For some, it could be nothing more than a teaser with the Undertaker possibly aiming Shane-O-Mac or even Drew McIntyre. There is also the possibility that it could be nothing more than a diabolic plot (storyline) hinting at another reign vs. Undertaker clash shortly.
Looking ahead, Reigns and the Undertaker are likely to join forces at one point. Against McMahon and McIntyre, the odds favor the former. More WWE protagonists could enter the fray, seeing how Shane-O-Mac is assembling a faction of his own. But once all that has been settled, what is really behind the sudden insertion of the Dead Man who most feels should be slowing down or resting.
It was one of the rare appearances of the Undertaker on the red brand. The last time he emerged was back on June 3, part of the hype the WWE was trying to build for the Dead Man's match against Bill Goldberg for WWE Super Showdown that went down in Saudi Arabia last June 8, Forbes said. The Dead Man won over Goldberg although the show drew flak from wrestling critics. Most took shots at the age of Undertaker (54) and Goldberg (52), hinting that both would be better off helping the WWE in some other capacity.
For his part, Undertaker has been active as of late, and most feel that he will be in a blockbuster WWE match soon. From the protagonists present during WWE Raw, the only logical target is none other than Roman Reigns. Looking at the WWE calendar, upcoming big pay-per-view events include WWE Extreme Rules and WWE Summer Slam. The latter seems to make more sense seeing these two behemoths in the ring - meaning the Dead Man could be out for revenge to avenge his Wrestlemania 33 loss to the Big Dog.
