The PlayStation 5 is virtual reality ready according to speculations, and this could be one of the major selling points of the next generation gaming console from Sony. PlayStation 5 can attract virtual reality centered graphics prowess and could introduce itself into the hard-core, more serious gamers. While this could be great news for tech specs oriented gamers, this could also be attractive to racing franchises like "Gran Turismo."
When the "Gran Turismo Sport" was released in 2017, it boasted hyper-realistic car models and a shirt virtual reality level for players who have PlayStation Virtual Reality hardware. In one of his recent interviews with GTPlanet, "Gran Turismo" series creator was all praises to the upcoming PlayStation 5 and its interesting next-generation specs. Polyphony Digital chief executive officer and game designer Kazunori Yamauchi also noted that the specs of the upcoming next-generation gaming console from Sony would unlock the title's graphics and VR potential.
The Japanese game designer also disclosed some juicy details about the upcoming "Gran Turismo" title but did not hint on the official title of the or its release date. But, he teased about the impressive VR features of the upcoming sequel to "Gran Turismo Sport." The CEO also revealed how he was able to play once again with "Gran Turismo 2" and "Gran Turismo 3" noting that there are many things about these titles that ha have already forgotten.
By re-experiencing the World Tours, he had the chance to revisit the history of "Gran Turismo" once again and other entries in the popular game simulation franchise, which he noted that would play a part in the upcoming installment. Yamauchi-san also explained that one of the major features that will be positively affected in the upcoming "Gran Turismo" is its VR feature. He said that the game's VR would require so much power that can be well accommodated by the PlayStation 5.
The Japanese game designer added that the upcoming gaming console from Sony is best suited for a driving game with the evolution of its GPU power and its hardware. While the CEO/game designer did not explicitly said that the next "Gran Turismo" would be released for PlayStation 5, but it appears that it is certain. Since 1997, the company has released 15 versions of "Gran Turismo," and all of these titles were exclusive to PlayStation console.
It would be a departure from their usual tradition if the gaming studio this time would not release their next "Gran Turismo" game in the upcoming PlayStation 5. Even the CEO's statement about the specs of Sony's next-generation console can be easily interpreted as praise for the specs-centered strategy of the Japanese gaming console maker. If the PlayStation 5 is expected to be released in 2020, most likely the next iteration of "Gran Turismo" will be released around the same window.
