Lotus remains silent about the features of its latest Type 130 electric hypercar, but has now officially named the car "Evija." The name means "the first in existence" or "the living one" representing Lotus traditions. The company is known to produce cars with names starting with E like Esprit, Elise, and Exige.
Participants of the Goodwood Festival of Speed are scheduled for a sneak to peek at the electric hypercar through a light show. On Wednesday, Lotus confirmed that the electric hypercar would be known as Evija. The unique name of the car proves that it will be far from the usual vehicles made by the company. Evija is Lotus' first electric car and the first under its new owner Geely, a Chinese manufacturer. Lotus' Evija will be the first British-made electric vehicle hypercar
Reports said that the new car is expected to run at more than 1,000 horsepower and offer a range between charges of about 250 miles.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event for all great builders of cars and motorsports. It is a celebration that is a perfect venue for car builders to launch their racecars.
According to reports, the upcoming car will be limited to just 13 units carrying with it a very exotic silhouette. The hypercar is scheduled for debut on July 16 in London, but the attendees of the festival will be witnesses as to how the car looks. CNET reported that the vehicle would be hidden inside "a dramatic 'light show' experience" that will highlight more exterior details instead of being on display in some conceptual form.
Lotus has lots of experience in motor racing which started from the days of Colin Chapman. Mr. Chapman is an influential English design engineer and builder who founded Lotus cars.
Lotus was founded in 1952, and it is familiar with the sport, and it continues to develop its racing brands. The founder initially ran the company in his free time with the assistance of a group of car enthusiasts.
Phil Popham, Lotus Cars CEO said that Evija is the perfect name for our new car because it's the first hypercar from Lotus, our first electric offering and is the first new model under the stewardship of Geely. He also said that the Evija is a Lotus-like no other, yet a true Lotus in every sense. He added that it would re-establish our brand on the global automotive stage and pave the way for further visionary models.
