Tesla has been sweating away to get it's Gigafactory 3 located near Shanghai online and be prepared for production, and the work has interestingly gone at a very surprising fast pace. The amount of job done is so fast that the Chinese automotive team of Morgan Stanley noted that the factory would be up and running by the end of 2019.
When Tesla's Gigafactory 3 will be in its full operation, it will build cars different from what is currently in production at the company's Fremont factory. Instead, the vehicles will be developed from the partial knockdown and total knockdown kits. In other words, the vehicles are initially assembled elsewhere, and Shanghai will take care of the final assembly.
This is actually the general standard of practice in the industry today, which includes Ford and other vehicle manufacturers. This is the best alternative to produce vans and SUVs into the United States without the need to pay for the tax on imported SUVs and light trucks.
According to the estimate of the team sent by Morgan Stanley at Tesla's Gigafactory 3, the facility will have the capability to produce between 35,000 and 40,000 vehicles by 2020. This number could definitely increase to up to 60,000 cars by 2021. The numbers are nowhere near the output level of the company's Fremont facility but it is just a starting point and it will definitely increase over time.

In addition to the report from the team sent by Morgan Stanley, Twitter user Vincent, known for his tweets on the latest happenings concerning Tesla's Gigafactory 3, shared a series of tweets containing photos of the company's facility. He shared that Tao Lin, Tesla's global vice president just had a meeting with a journalist from a Chinese media.
Chinese journalist learned from the meeting that the current construction progress of the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory is more/faster than expected, MIC Model 3 will have the ability to get off the assembly at the end of this year.$TSLA #Tesla #China #TeslaChina #GF3 #GigaFactory — Vincent (@vincent13031925) July 17, 2019
The meeting covered the development as well as the operations of Tesla's Gigafactory 3. The Twitter user shared the same story that Morgan Stanley team discovered-the construction is ahead of its schedule and has smoothly gone. Vincent further noted that with the way the things progress in Tesla's Gigafactory 3, Model 3s that are assembled in China could start rolling off before 2019 ends.
