A new report surfaced online claiming that the PlayStation 5 will be released with PlayStation VR and will be retailed at around $400.
According to the report, the PlayStation VR is currently in its development stage also and is being prepared for the PlayStation 5. The next-generation gaming console from Sony will be offered within the $400 mark and might be released in 2020. While none of this is officially confirmed by the Japanese tech titan, the report claims that it has a lot of evidence to back its claims.
The report states that Sony will have to keep up in time with its competitor, Microsoft, which is planning to launch its next-generation gaming console in 2020. Although there are many claims of which is the better and more powerful device, it seems that both gaming consoles could be released at somewhat similar price points.
The report continues that the PlayStation 5 will be compatible with the PlayStation VR, which is great news for owners of the company's virtual reality headset who want to upgrade. Recently, Sony's Dominic Mallinson, in one of his interviews shared that Sony will not bombard the gamers with a plethora of new technology which explains why the company will not release the second iteration of the PlayStation VR.
According to Mallinson, there is no reason why they have to align the release of the PSVR 2 with the release of its next-generation console. The executive also clarified that Sony would not want to send a wrong message to the consumers and would appreciate if gamers could have a little breathing space between the release of its products.
A different report claims that the PlayStation VR will be retailed at around $250 and will be a wireless device. This would mean lesser battery life despite the report's claim that it will have interesting specs. This includes a 120 Hertz refresh rate, 560 x 1440 resolution, and 220-degree FOV.
If we based on the recent patent filing by Sony, the next PlayStation VR will be equipped with a detection section that senses the posture of a display mounted on the head of the user, it will have a status determination section that detects the gaze of the user's direction along with binocular inclination angle based on the posture of the display mounted on the user's head.
These claims about the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation VR are unofficial. And, just like all other claims, it is smart to take this with a pinch of salt.
