We are just a few weeks away from the rumored release date of one of the most popular action cameras in the world, the GoPro Hero 8. With the month of July finally coming to a close, no official news from the San Mateo-based company was released about the eighth iteration of the popular action camera. However, given the knack in the industry of various tech analysts, many predict what the company is planning for its upcoming device based on the criticisms received by its predecessor-the GoPro Hero 7.

New Body Design

Chief Executive Officer Nick Woodman mentioned during the May 2019 conference that GoPro will have a refreshed lineup. He was quoted saying that he was happy to share that the company is planning for a refreshed lineup at all price points in the fourth quarter including the next-generation spherical camera. The spherical camera that the CEO was referring to is the Fusion 2, which will definitely excite 360 enthusiasts.

But with the number of complaints the GoPro hero 7 received in regards to its body style, many tech analysts believe that the GoPro Hero 8 will have a new body design. There were complaints about the black rubber casing not holding up to its functionality and tend to appear worn out after just a few months of use. A larger, front-facing, edge to edge screen will definitely excite users.

New Processor

Another highly anticipated improvement that many users expect from the GoPro Hero 8 is a new processor. The eighth action cam iteration is anticipated to have a new GP2 processor notwithstanding several performance advantages that it could benefit from the GP1 processor. Rumors have it that the upcoming action shooter will have a GP2 chip and a 4GB memory.

Hyper Smooth Stabilization

Although the hyper smooth stabilization of the GoPro Hero 7 is already great, it still struggles in low light conditions. With the new GP2 chipset the hyper smooth stabilization feature of the Go Pro Hero 8 will certainly improve aside from boosting its many capabilities. The upcoming action shooter is anticipated to feature video+ photo capture functionality.

This particular functionality was already present in the GoPro hero 5 product series. However, it seems that the company changed its mind and removed this feature when it released GoPro Hero 6 Black.

Release Date

GoPro Hero 8 is expected to be released sometime in September that is, if the company sticks to its regular refresh cycle of introducing new action shooters.
