Blizzard was amazed by the reception of the gaming public on "World of Warcraft Classic." The upcoming game is currently on its beta phase and the warm reception s unexpected according to the game's lead software engineer. In one of his interviews, Brian Birmingham shared some more details about the upcoming game and its content.
"World of Warcraft Classic" is scheduled to release in less than a month officially. Over the years, the popular vanilla servers were rampant as gamers and fans would like to have something that could give the game a distinct flavor. With the "World of Warcraft Classic," they can freely do it on the official servers of Blizzard.
According to Brian Birmingham, they were overwhelmed by the reception of the players in the beta phase of "World of Warcraft Classic." The lead software engineer added that Blizzard was positively impressed by how passionate the gamers were in relation to the game's beta. Instinctively, the beta phase is where a lot of gamers come in to try a few things and then will wait for the game's release.
However, Birmingham noticed that with "World of Warcraft Classic" beta players would say that they have helped out the test and now they are done. He added that they were thrilled by how every night, many gamers play the beta even though they already know that the characters will be wiped out even before the game officially releases. He shared that they were impressed with how dedicated these gamers are.
The lead software engineer also revealed during the interview that the initial plan to roll out the content was changed and instead of four phases, it will now be six. The first phase of "World of Warcraft Classic" content rollout will include Onyxia and Ragnaros. In the second phase, Dire Maul and the game's PvP Honour System will be unlocked.
The third phase of "World of Warcraft Classic" content rollout will include the first two battlegrounds, including BlackWing Lair, Alterac Valley, and Warsong Gulch. The fourth phase will include the release of the green dragons, Zul'Gurub, and Arathi Basin. Meanwhile, phase five will release Ahn'Qiral, and phase six will release Naxxramas.
According to the lead software engineer, one of the reasons why they changed the phases of "World of Warcraft Classic," content rollout is because of the feedback they got from the community. He added that the community fined the four phases too few and it would trivialize the content of the game.
"World of Warcraft Classic" is scheduled for release on August 27, 2019, and will be a part of the standard "World of Warcraft" game subscription.
