Tottenham has reportedly agreed to Paulo Dybala's personal terms, but the Juventus star's image rights are apparently causing the delay. The Italian club is looking to offload Dybala before the end of the transfer window after a move to Manchester United didn't go through due to wage demands.
At Old Trafford, Dybala was demanding a £350,000-a-week wage, despite the whole team taking a 25% pay cut after failing to enter the Champions League. However, Spurs are willing to match the 25-year-old's demands and reached an agreement with the Serie A champs.
The Independent reports that the North London club has agreed personal terms with the young footballer. However, Dybala's image rights, which are owned by Star Image Company of Malta, are stalling the process on the deal. For this reason, the deal may not make in time before the transfer window closes on Thursday at 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Spurs have also made a proposal for Real Betis' Giovani Lo Celso. The La Liga side reportedly demand £65 million for the 23-year-old, according to The Telegraph.
The Argentina internationals would represent a significant outlay for Mauricio Pochettino's team after Spurs became the first English club not to invest in new players during a summer transfer window 12 months ago.
New Juve coach Maurizio Sarri has deemed Dybala surplus to the requirement which will see the club try to offload him. Juve has made it clear that Dybala has no future in Turin, which is why he is now more open to a move to England. Mauricio Pochettino is also rumored to have called compatriot Dybala personally over the weekend in an effort to help get the deal over the line.
This summer, Tottenham have already spent a club-record signing of £65m for Tanguy Ndombele. The club has also been heavily linked with Philippe Coutinho of Barca and Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes.
Dybala has also been linked with Manchester United, with Juve expressing interest on Romelu Lukaku from the Red Devils. But United backed out of the deal, making way for Tottenham to bring the forward to the Premier League.
Per Law, Spurs are now nearer Betis' valuation of Lo Celso, and the player is hopeful of featuring for countryman Pochettino next term.
Last season, Spurs made the UEFA Champions League final, but was defeated by Liverpool 2-0. Pochettino has always relied on Harry Kane in recent years, and the need for something fresh is apparent for the next campaign.
