''The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt'' is one of the most awaited titles being ported to Nintendo Switch. While the game was previously announced to release to the hybrid console, there was no confirmed release date revealed yet. Today, the game finally got its official release date, but a new video showing hos the game fares on Nintendo Switch reveals that there are some compromises made particularly in the quality of the images and scenes.
The critically-acclaimed fantasy epic title ''The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt'' is coming on Nintendo Switch on October 15, 2019. The announcement was made during this year's Gamescom held at Cologne in Germany. CD Projekt Red made several sacrifices to make the open-world fantasy game run on Nintendo Switch.
To do this, the game developer stripped some of the visual frills and pomps from the game. It is a heartbreaking but a necessary evil considering that the Nintendo Switch is not as powerful as the specs of other gaming platforms like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game developer also released a new The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt trailer for the Nintendo Switch port offering an extended look at how the game runs on the hybrid Japanese gaming platform.
As you can see in the announcement video below, as well as on the hands-on gameplay video from the press, "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" appears less than what is expected of it. The textures of the game are muddy, there is minimal anti-aliasing, and the meshes seem to lack details. The trailer also reveals some noticeable FPS drops probably sub-30.
But, it is understandable considering that "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" is not a small game. It is a massive open-world RPG with a lot of monsters, NPCs, and items to render anytime. T is rather quite impressive that the developer was able to port it to Nintendo Switch with a few sacrifices successfully. Some players will also play the game on a much smaller screen, so, most likely the visual downgrades will not be very noticeable.
The Complete Edition of "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" is available for $60 and includes the expansion packs "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine." The physical copies of the game are also available and include a stylized paper world map, free stickers, and Witcher Universe: Compendium lore booklet. The physical packs of the "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" expansions are priced at $10 and $20 respectively.
