A new report surfaced earlier today revealing a couple of reasons why Jose Mourinho wants to sell Anthony Martial while he was still the manager of Manchester United. The former Red Devils' boss was desperate to dump the Frenchman because he was too sulky and because he was mentally weak.
Former Manchester United boss wanted to sell Anthony Martial and replace him with Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan during his time at the Old Trafford. However, it was Ed Woodward who intervened and demanded that the Frenchman forward stays at the team. Woodward thinks that Anthony Martial has potential in shaping the future of the Red Devils.
Anthony Martial, the then Monaco wonder kid, was the most expensive teenage footballer in history when Manchester United acquired him at £50 million in 2015. During his debut at the Old Trafford under Louis Van Haal, he made 49 appearances and scored 17 goals. However, the succeeding years under Jose Mourinho, he only made 31 goals for the Old Trafford.
Previous reports suggested that Anthony Martial and Jose Mourinho has a strained relationship. Martial was always kept out in favor of Romelu Lukako and Marcus Rashford. The Times reported that Mourinho felt the Monaco wonder kid was mentally weak for the Premier League.

This made it difficult for him to return from minor setbacks. Mourinho was also mad by Anthony Martial's alleged sulking during games. The Frenchman has discovered his form once again under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United boss made him a part of the team's lethal force in the front line along with the recently signed Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, and Marcus Rashford. This season, Anthony Martial already scored twice against Wolves and Chelsea. But, struggling with a thigh injury, Martial drew a blank during its match against Crystal Palace. When asked about Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial's injury, Solskjaer said that they have to wait and see. He is hoping that the injuries are not that bad and looking forward to having both players during training this week.

During the early stages of the 2018-2019 campaign, and despite the struggles of Manchester United, Anthony Martial contributed 12 goals in the previous 30 Premier League games. But, he was not able to prevent the recent loss that the Red Devils suffered from Crystal Palace last Saturday.
