The Pocophone F2 is one of the highly anticipated smartphones, especially in India. Its predecessor, the Pocophone F1, is a real deal-breaker housing Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, packing 4000 mAh battery pack with 6GB LPDDR4X dual-channel memory and 64GB / 128GB storage options. Most importantly, users love the Poco F1 because of its impressive camera specs that produce outstanding photos for a reasonably fair price.
A new report surfaced earlier today claiming that Pocophone F1's parent company Xiaomi is allegedly planning to release four smartphones housing 108 MP camera. If the latest claim is accurate, there is a chance that the Pocophone F2 might also have one of these camera sensors considering that one of its predecessor's key features is its outstanding camera. The latest report about four smartphones with 108 MP primary rear camera comes from XDA Developers.
The team was the first to report that Xiaomi was working on a couple of phones with pop up selfie cameras, which turned out to be the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro or Pocophone F2 in some regions. The team now shared that they discovered pieces of evidence that the Chinese smartphone maker is currently working on four smartphones housing the 108 MP sensor. The camera sensor is most likely the one that the company developed along with Samsung, which is the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor.
The evidence was found in MIUI Mi Gallery app, which the team noticed that is adding in support for viewing 108 MP images in full resolution. Additionally, the support is integrated into specific devices with codenames Tucana, Umi, Draco, and Cmi. The report claims that all of these codenames are the four unreleased devices from Xiaomi (one of them could be the Pocophone F2), but there is a chance that the company might split it with Mi and Redmi brands.
The report does not reveal the exact name of the smartphones that will have the 108 MP camera sensor. What is certain at this point is that it will be Xiaomi phones. It could be one of the Xiaomi M Mix smartphones, Xiaomi Pocophone F2, or Xiaomi Redmi phones.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has been very quiet about details surrounding the Pocophone F2. The only official information that the company released associated with the much-awaited Poco F1 predecessor is that it will not be discontinued and that it will be released soon. Other than that, we saw Geekbench test results of a device with a name Poco F2, but so far, nothing is official yet.
