Alexis Sanchez's departure from Manchester United has apparently made some players happy. The Chilean has been offloaded on a season-long loan at Inter Milan, and his former squad is reportedly "glad to see the back of him."
After trading Arsenal for Man Utd in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan last year, Sanchez found himself in a quite frustrating time at Old Trafford, managing three goals in the Premier League. Over the summer, he left the club to join the Italian club on loan, reuniting with good pal Romelu Lukaku, though United are believed to be paying a significant portion of his £500,000-a-week salary.
A report by The Sun claims that many players at United see Sanchez's enormous deal with resentment, with some stars saying that the Chilean was "wildly overpaid." His wages have been creating problems for the club and not that he has been offloaded, there is reportedly a sense of relief.
The report also claims that a player for United has said: "He's no Messi, so why give him all that dough?" It was widely reported that Sanchez struggled to settle at Old Trafford, playing under two different managers - Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunner Solskjaer - but somehow failed to display the same skill set he was known as a player for Arsenal.
After the international break, Sanchez is expected to make his debut for Inter Milan. Last week, he was seen sharing an embrace with Lukaku after finally completing his loan move from United to Inter. Inter announced their club-record €80million (£72.5m) deal for Lukaku at the beginning of August and the 26-year-old striker has had a promising start in Italy, finding the net in his two opening Serie A matches against Lecce and Cagliari.
Sanchez is keen on reviving his career, leading him wanting to move to Italy to follow Lukaku. The Belgian, who has developed a close friendship with Sanchez at United, is said to have contributed greatly in the forward's move. The two football stars were seen hugging it out after an interview with BBC Sport.
Lukaku talked about his time at Inter Milan so far, but when asked about his friend finally joining him, the 26-year-old expressed his enthusiasm:
"For him, I think coming here is the right move, "Lukaku said. "But I really believe that he's going to do well for us and hopefully he can add that little spark to our team."
