Kyrie Irving was diagnosed with a facial fracture after getting an elbow during a pick-up game. Brooklyn Nets General Manager Sean Marks shares the latest update on Irving's condition. Additionally, he reveals Nets plans for Kevin Durant for this season.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving caught an unintentional elbow in the face during a pickup game recently at the Nets' practice facility last Tuesday. The star was immediately rushed to the hospital for evaluation. However, according to Brooklyn Nets GM, it was just a precautionary measure. Irving stood in front of his teammates, the front office, and thousands of fans, in Boston Celtics last fall revealing that he is leaving the team by the time he becomes a free agent.

After a tumultuous season for both Boston Celtics and Kyrie Irving, the NBA star brought his talent to Celtics' rival, Brooklyn Nets. Sadly, it seems that Irving's first season with the Nets got off to a difficult start due to his recent injury. But, the Nets downplayed it as day-to-day facial fracture. Fortunately, the injury is not that serious and Kyrie Irving will be up to any crucial period when the Nets need him this season. But of course, nobody wants their star player suffering from a broken face just a few days prior to the start of the training camp. Despite Irving's recent absence in the team's practice, the signing is giving the Nets dividends. During Brooklyn Nets press conference last Tuesday, Marks was all praises to Kyrie Irving's professionalism and dedication to the team. He said that Irving's leadership and work ethics along with his competitive nature, have been terrific for the entire team. Nets general manager also shared that Kenny Atkinson, Nets' coach went with Irving to the hospital who later checked out of the facility. Additionally, Sean Marks told reporters that so far, the team has no plans for Kevin Durant yet for this season. The 10-time NBA All-Star is anticipated to miss the whole season since he is still recovering from ruptured Achilles tendon he got when he played the Game 5 of the NBA Finals in the previous season. Marks also said that Kevin Durant will have the final say in determining when he is ready to come back, but the Nets are taking the long-term approach and considering on letting him rest for now.

Brooklyn Nets will begin its training camp on September 28, much earlier than the rest of the NBA teams because of its preseason trip to China. They will play a couple of preseason against the LA Lakers in Shenzhen and Shanghai on October 10 and 12. Assuming that there will be no complications to his facial fracture, Kyrie Irving is expected to be ready for the preseason games.
