With just a few months away before the January transfer window, it seems that Arsenal has already laid out its plan for the upcoming football event. Vinai Venkatesham recently outlined the plans of the team, which revealed that the Gunners would be most likely active in the upcoming transfer window. Meanwhile, the defensive trio Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding are allegedly returning to the squad for the EFL Cup.
Vinai Venkatesham, the managing director of Arsenal, shared the team's plans for the January transfer window. But, he downplayed the possibility that it is going to be as active as the Gunners were during the previous summer transfer window. It can be recalled that the team shattered its own transfer record when it inked a £72million deal with Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal also brought in Kieran Tierney, William Saliba, David Luiz and Dani Ceballos on loan. At first, it may seem as though the team has already stacked a powerhouse of players, but despite the strong reinforcements, the Gunners is currently battling to finish in the league's top four once again. However, according to Vinai Venkatesham, the team is less likely to strengthen further unless an injury happens.
In a recent interview, the managing director was asked if Arsenal is planning to bring in big names in football come January transfer window. According to Vinai Venkatesham, the team has been through the summer transfer window, and it is the period which they consider major. He narrated that during that period, Arsenal signed several new players that the team was excited about, and mostly young players that they think can still grow and develop with the team over the years.
The managing director thinks that the summer window may always be the strategic transfer window for Arsenal while the January is a bit more tactical. He added that the work is done during the summer transfer window, and so far, the team is very pleased with its decision. Meanwhile, several reports surfaced earlier today that the defensive trio of Arsenal is returning for the EFL Cup.
Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding are reportedly set to come back during the Gunners' matchday roster for the EFL Cup third-round tie against Nottingham Forest which is scheduled tomorrow night. It is worth noting that the Arsenal defensive trio has been sidelined over the course of the season while Bellerin and Holding missed many plays because of injuries.
According to Arsenal's Unai Emery, the idea is for the defensive trio to have minutes on Tuesday. But, it will still depend on the decision for the first XI and their feelings.
