"The Sims" is one of the most successful game series launched by Electronics Arts and Maxis. The game is almost 20 years old since it was first introduced in the gaming industry as a life simulation video game. Although the game developer and publisher have been mum about the details of the series' next iteration, fans have been very keen about anything related to the upcoming game installment, "The Sims 5."
Eagle-eye "The Sims" player and fan named PattonTheIntelGamer shared on Twitter a recent job posting which hints that "The Sims 5" could be in its early stage of development. Electronics Arts and Maxis have not shared any detail about the series' next installment and the only statement the game developer said was that it will release the next iteration if "The Sims 4" becomes successful.
The job listing advertises that "The Sims" is in need of a Program Manager for Maxis Marketing Projects, which will focus on special projects and initiatives. The lucky applicant will be a part of a small team with a direct impact on the experiences of the Sims of tomorrow, says the job listing. Interestingly, the available position is in Redwood City, where, as all Sims fans know is the location where the game is made.
The position could be related to "The Sims 5" and could be an entirely different assignment. But, considering that the position is for a small team, the team may be still in the early stage of developing "The Sims 5," which could be at this point, is at the designing phase. This also aligns with the Twitter of Maxis Senior Producer and "The Sims" maker Grant Rodiek.
The Sim guru claims in his profile that he does not work on "The Sims 4." This could mean he is already focusing on the next game iteration "The Sims 5" or could be working in an entirely different project. Aside from Project Manager position, Electronics Arts is also looking for Community Operations Manager and Global Community Manager for "The Sims."
These job listings could be related to "The Sims 5" or it could also be related to upcoming contents and expansions for "The Sims 4." So far, EA and Maxis have been getting positive feedback which translates to increased sales because of the game's expansions. As for the possible release date of "The Sims 5" some fans believe that it is happening in 2020 which is significant to the entire series since next year will be its 20th year in the industry.
